GEG Canberra has merged into GEG Australia!

Over the years there have been a number of regional GEG groups that have aimed to serve their local areas. There were numerous city-based GEGs like GEG Adelaide, GEG Brisbane, GEG Sydney and GEG Canberra, as well as more hyperlocal groups like GEG Western Sydney, GEG Braidwood, GEG Mornington Peninsular, GEG Mid North Coast and GEG Central Coast.

With more Google Educator Group events moving to an online format, the physical locations of the GEGs has become less important, and it became apparent that a larger, more inclusive GEG for all of Australia could achieve many of the same goals more simply for more people.

Moving to a single GEG Australia lets us do more with less, and that benefits everyone.

Having a single website, single event calendar, single YouTube channel, and single point of contact with the folk at Google helps streamline the process of running a GEG, still allowing those keen to get involved as leaders to participate from anywhere.

We encourage you to visit the new GEG Australia website at www.gegaustralia.com.

What happens next?

We will manually merge the existing member lists from the various regional GEGs into a single GEG Australia membership list.  You may get an email letting you know that you've been added to a new Google group for GEG Australia.  Other than that, nothing will really change.  We'll let you know about upcoming GEG Australia events, and we hope you'll able to join some of them.

What about regional GEG events?

One of the upsides of this move to a single GEG for Australia is that we'll still have regional GEG leaders who are free to run things in their local area.  In fact we hope to have more regional leaders, and therefore more regional events.  Stay tuned!

Thanks for your patience as we make this change, and we're confident that we'll be able to bring you even more GEG activities in the future.
